Businesses automating check processing

The problem

Manual check processing is slow and error-prone

Reading check details by hand, especially routing numbers, MICR lines, and handwritten amounts, takes time, introduces transcription errors, and doesn't scale when volumes grow.

The solution

AI extracts check data automatically

DocuClipper reads every field from your check images and PDFs, no templates, no training, no manual setup. Get structured, exportable data in seconds.

Why teams use DocuClipper for check extraction

No templates or manual configuration required.

Instant extraction

Upload a check PDF or image and get structured data in seconds, no manual entry needed.

Works on scanned checks

AI OCR handles low-quality scans, handwritten amounts, and unusual check layouts.

Batch processing

Process hundreds of checks at once. Upload a folder and get a single structured output.

99.9% field-level accuracy

Routing numbers, MICR line, amounts, and dates extracted with 99.9% field-level accuracy on checks. Verified by 111 G2 reviews (4.7/5).

How it works

Four steps from upload to export, fully automated.

1

Upload

Drop in PDFs, scanned images, or a batch folder. Single checks or hundreds at once.

2

Extract

AI captures payee, amount, routing number, account number, date, and memo automatically.

3

Validate

Numeric and written amounts are cross-checked. Discrepancies are flagged automatically.

4

Export

Download Excel or CSV, push to QuickBooks or Xero, or connect via API.

Export check data to Excel, QuickBooks, or Xero

Download extracted check data as Excel (XLSX) or CSV, push payee and amount directly into QuickBooks or Xero, or pipe results through the API. The same extraction job feeds every destination, so you pick the format at export time, not upload time.

Built for financial workflows

Whether you're closing books, underwriting loans, or investigating fraud, check extraction fits into your process.

Accountants & bookkeepers

  • Digitize check records for reconciliation
  • Auto-fill payee and memo onto matching Check #N rows in the bank statement
  • Sync payee and amount directly into QuickBooks or Xero
  • Eliminate manual re-keying of check details

Lenders & underwriters

  • Verify check deposits against bank statements
  • Extract MICR data for routing and account verification
  • Analyze borrower payment patterns at volume

Investigators & forensic accountants

  • Trace check payments across accounts
  • Detect amount discrepancies and anomalies
  • Process large document sets quickly for investigations

Common questions

About check formats, accuracy, batch processing, and exports.

DocuClipper extracts payee name, payer name, check number, date, amount (numeric and written), memo, bank name, routing number, and account number. The MICR line at the bottom of each check is read to capture routing and account numbers reliably.
Yes. DocuClipper processes scanned PDFs, photos taken with a phone, and low-quality images. Accuracy is highest on clear scans at 300 DPI or above; blurry or creased checks may require spot review for amount and payee fields.
Yes. The AI reads both the numeric amount and the written-out dollar amount. If the two values do not match, a common indicator of check fraud or a data entry error, the discrepancy is flagged before export.
Yes. Upload a multi-page PDF (one check per page) or a ZIP of individual check images. DocuClipper processes each check separately and outputs a single consolidated spreadsheet with one row per check.
PDF (single-page and multi-page), JPEG, PNG, and TIFF. Scanned documents and digital check images both work. Batch uploads can mix formats in the same job.
Download as Excel (.xlsx) or CSV, push extracted check data directly to QuickBooks or Xero, or consume the results via API and webhooks for custom downstream workflows.
Yes. If you upload check images for an account that already has a statement in DocuClipper, the checks are matched by check number to the corresponding Check #N transaction rows on that statement. Payee and memo from each image are filled in on the matching row. If the statement itself includes check images on the back pages, the same matching runs automatically in a single pass, so you don't have to upload anything separately.
Upload the scanned check (PDF, JPEG, PNG, or TIFF) to DocuClipper. The AI reads the MICR line for routing and account numbers, plus the payee, payer, date, numeric amount, written amount, memo, and check number. Results export to Excel, CSV, QuickBooks, or Xero. Best accuracy is at 300 DPI or higher, but mobile photos also work.
Yes. Scan or photograph the checks (one per page or a multi-page PDF), upload to DocuClipper, and export the result as Excel. The output is a single spreadsheet with one row per check including payee, amount, date, check number, and memo, ready to drop into a check register or reconciliation workbook.
